If, as a tourist, and besides the pyramids etc, you would like to try your hand at "lady luck", there are numerous Casinos in Cairo, and all the main tourist centers. and on a few Nile cruise ships. Most are associated with 5 star hotel establishments. A quick surf on the net will yield locations of the Casinos.
Be sure to take your passport to prove you are a foreigner. Even if from strictest rich Arab country, you are likely especially welcome. But, is forbidden for Egyptian citizens to enter.
I am not expert, as it was many years ago I visited one at the Marriott Hotel, Zamalek, and sure did not see any Los Vegas Pizazz, and left with impression of rather "cold hard core" environment. I do recall losing my alloted cash very quickly, then retired to bar to drown my sorrow. Wish I had asked what the spirit drinks cost before imbibing - Yikes "arm and leg prices". With the gambling losses and drinks bill, felt like I got hit with double whammy, but at least had a good enough hangover so remorse could not set in. Haven't been back since.
This is true today at hotels - check prices of spirits and cocktails before ordering to ease the shock when you get the bill. As of this date, a quick mental calculation for exchange of Egyptian pounds LE to US dollars divide by 5, and UK pounds divide by 10, then add 25% for tax and service. You will be close enough to appreciate the price.
Enjoy and Good Luck - you'll need it.
