Cairo versus Geneva - can you compare at any level?

Quick answer is NO! --- no suprise to anyone. But a few observations for fun...........

General as all who dwell here know

Cairo Geneva
pedestrians scary driver beware
air smoky crystal
bus,taxi, cycle lanes joking enforced
public transport yikes impeccable
walking about why fantastic
driving chaotic rules

Few Price Comparisons - felt like I was spending Swiss Francs like we spend LE here

Cairo LE Geneva LE
pack of cigs 8.5 34.3
beer from store 6.0 13.0
tea nice place 8.5 20.8
beer nice place 20.0 35.9
taxi within maadi 5.0 62.4

Few comments:

Airport Terminal 3 - big improvement. When returning we where through immigration in record time as all the stalls were manned. How long will this last? Luggage bit of a wait. Take a jacket with you on leaving as temperature is about 16C in departure lounges.

Geneva (travelling in general) - best to arrange medical insurance if you do not have. Doctor visit to hotel room (daughter had cold) was 250 CHF (1300 LE) and ordinary medications was very costly.

Interesting observation - while on lake boat excursion we passed a chalet villa which sure liked the egyptian flag flying.

Did we have a great time - OH YES. Living in Cairo makes you really appreciate the organized, clean, nicer places. Take money with you as Geneva is a shoppers paradise with public transport so good I cannot try to explain. By the way all hotels must give guests free passess good for all public transport (buses, trams, passenger ferries) for duration of your stay including train back to airport. Few pics below
