Egypt ISP - where is Soficom ADSL provider gone?

Friend (see comments section with his story still on going) had ADSL connection through Soficom and one day the connection did not work - and next day and so on. Went to their office in Digla and except for a notice written in Arabic, office was no longer working. Heard a rumor they were bought out by someone. Here is the kicker. To change providers you need a cancellation notice from ISP you were using. Catch 22 - how do you get a cancellation notice from a company not existing. Maybe company went down the pipe as Etisalat is buying up the ISP business. Etisalat Misr acquired 2 Internet companies “Nile Online” & “Egynet”.(reported Oct 2008)

Update: Friend told me after more days suddenly ADSL was working again. Here is kicker - his account is a few weeks overdue for payment but he has no idea who to pay. Bet he will be contacted soon - so we will see.

Anyone has information about Soficom, or how to handle this problem, please leave a comment.
