I found over 60 Cloud definitions on Google. BTW, some companies have already started to market this concept and few companies are using.
Early days, but all things have to start somewhere. My feeling is "baby start" Unbuntu Linux" and it has hit the starting blocks. Also Amazon ( who up to now set the EC2 standard). Well - really I have no idea what all this about but I will learn.
Cloud by someones idea - we are at net 2.0 confusing!
I found one explanation that made sense to me. "Electricity started as a innovation (idea), then the light bulb, then came the small generators and distribution systems (New York was one of first?), Then large power plants all tied together in grids, and here we are about 50 years later and we expect electricity and pay a small utility charge for what we use.
So, it seems this will be the path of Cloud Computing. (maybe a different name if future). Nothing will stop this and we will see companies (first) and individuals (later) as using this technology as a utility - like electricity today.
Individuals will have a terminal at home, with small access program to login to the cloud (with their credit card): The operating system, all software, and storage you need will be in the cloud.
You will pay, like a utility, for time and resources used.

Anyway - my thoughts, and maybe of interest to others.
