Product Details: The picture quality for the DTA800B is reported as being in the "2nd tier" of converter boxes. This means that there are converter boxes out there that provide better picture quality but that this one also is an upgrade from analog TV broadcasts. The sound quality for this digital converter box is considered to be excellent! This converter box sells for $50-$60 depending on where you buy it from. This TV converter box is no longer available. An Alternative converter boxes to consider that are rated high include the Zinwell ZAT-950A and Tivax STB-T8.

The RCA converter box has a program guide that displays the current show title, current show run time, and the upcoming show for all channels. The program guide also includes a show description for the currently tuned show. You cannot set channels individually this converter box, the only option is the auto scan function. The RCA DTA800B also comes with a universal remote and adjustable font settings for closed captioning. This converter box does not come with the three required aspect ratio setting or analog pass-through.

The RCA DTA800B has good picture and sound quality but is lacking important features that are needed in a digital converter box. If you are in the market for a converter box we suggest that you consider something different.
