Laser Eye Treatment - Egytian Style

I know several expats, and Egytians, who have had this corrective surgery. The most recent I am aware of was Sept 2007 and cost was 5000LE. I previously posted this as a comment in answer to a reader but thought later it is worthy of a separte posting.

Vision modification by prk lasik

Question & answers about vision modification by lasik

What are the different vision faults?

Normal vision

That mean the image is formed exactly on the retina without additional effort on the eye muscles

Short vision

That Mean the image is formed before the retina (the image is not quite clear), that mostly because the cornea is more convex than normal

Long vision

It the opposite to the short vision, in other words the image is formed behind the retina & the cornea is more concave than normal

Stigmatism

That mean the image is formed in more than one focus before or after the retina that causes headaches & blurred image.

What is the laser ?

The laser is one of the photo waves, the computer controlling these waves to modify cornea convex to become normal.

That Laser is accurate, it is not affecting the cornea fibers or it’s surrounding, this method is certified in all of health ministries over the world such as (U.S.A. Japan, UK) & it is used for more than 10 million persons all over the world according to the international American association for vision modification statistics.

Are there many methods for vision modification?

Yes there are two methods for vision modification.

1. Axemar laser (p.r.k), this is the old one, but it has some disadvantages such as some pain & blurred image after the surgery for a few weeks after the surgery.

2. Lasik is the new one & it is the best because it can modify any degree of vision weakness, no pain, and short recovery time.

Is my case suitable for lasik?

Lasik can handle cases with –19 degrees short, +5 degrees long & 5 degrees stigmatism, but the eye & the cornea must be inspected by a special computer.

Is there a suitable age for lasik?

We recommend over 18 years (for eye settling)

Is there any pain during or after the surgery?

The lasik surgery takes less than 5min. , We use anesthetic drops only, after that there is only light suffering for about 3 hrs.

Is the result is fixed (the weakness not coming back)?

By lasik the result is more than 98% successful & it is completely fixed there are only the natural increase in vision shortness or 0.5 degrees or little bit more this also can be modified by another way without surgery, but the surgery result is fixed.
