SAA TV Ad

They get so much wrong, but their advertising agency have managed to deliver a brilliant, entertaining ad, that will stop me from touching the fast forward button every time I see it. They have managed to capture the preconceptions (and a couple of truths) of the South African cities.

The curse of unfortunate graphic placement

There I was, innocently sitting at my laptop, with the usual million windows open, checking out the latest NashuaMobile specials I received in my inbox. I clicked on the link and carried on working in the other opened windows, when out of the corner of my eye the image below appeared on my desktop ...

What had I clicked? Was I a victim of a phishing attack?
No, this was the bottom of my browser window which currently had the NashuaMobile webpage open. I was just seeing the bottom of the menu box below ...

... which was part of the following page ...

... which is part of the following campaign ...

Now I get the idea. The menu is supposed to be a placard being held up by a protester of sorts. But could they not have made the pole different colour?

Do you click the ads?

A few weeks ago I was listening to my weekly dose of This Week in Tech and one of the contributors mentioned that when visiting websites, he generally will click on a banner ad, just as a way of supporting the website/blog owner. As he said it's no real skin off his back and, who knows maybe he will luck upon a product or service that maybe useful.

I must say that this is not something I tend to think of doing, but it's something that has been nagging at the back of my head ever since that episode. Maybe I should be clicking on my fellow blogger's adverts.

Obviously Eish!! has banner ads, and it's always nice to know that people click on them and once or twice even buy something from the advertiser, but I never saw this as been a massive money spinner, just a way of maybe eventually paying for the hosting fees that will be accruing shortly.

So my question is simple, do you click on the ads ... ever? If so, why did/do you?
